Dreamgirls won six Tony Awards when it debuted on Broadway in 1982, including a Best Actress award for Jennifer Holliday and a Best Actor award for Ben Harney.   With music by Henry Krieger and lyrics by Tom Eyen, Dreamgirlsreturned to Broadway in 1988 before being released as a movie in 2006.
